U of L interested in '15 West Coast prospect

LAS VEGAS – One of the top junior prospects on the West Coast, Chance Comanche, is hearing from a bunch of schools. One of those schools showing quite a bit of interest is Louisville, which saw him in action last weekend.

Elite Prospects coach Dash Harris said top junior prospect Chance Comanche has about 16 schools showing the most interest at this point.

And one of those schools is the University of Louisville.

U of L assistant coach Wyking Jones attended several games last week to watch the 6-foot-11, 190-pound big man from the Class of 2015.

"He and his mom are wide open," Harris said of Comanche and his mother, Melissa McGee. "She's open to him leaving (the West Coast) and she's open to him staying. She played at Long Beach State, so she stayed.

"But she just wants what's best for him."

Comanche has offers from Colorado, Arizona, Florida State USC, Arizona State and Oregon, while also listing U of L, UCLA, California, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Kansas, Connecticut, Maryland, Texas, Washington and Marquette.

Comanche said he has "interest" in Louisville but noted that his "options are all open now." He said he would hope to make some visits this summer.

"His mom likes Louisville a lot," Harris said. "They just wpm the NCAA title and coach Pitino is great. She likes them."

Harris believes after his solid showing last week in the Fab 48 that Comanche will be receiving more scholarship offers soon.

"The summer went well," Comanche said. "I still have a lot of room for improvement, my turn-around game and my ball handling. But I am please."
