Florida DT calls it for Louisville

The University of Louisville football team has landed a third commitment in three days and now has 25 in the Class of 2015. The latest verbal pledge comes from Lakeland, Fla., Victory Christian defensive tackle Chris Nelson.

A former University of Virginia commitment, Chris Nelson re-opened his recruiting process in April and garnered a ton of attention.

On Wednesday night, Nelson ended the recruitment again.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive tackle called University of Louisville coach Charlie Strong and gave the Cardinals a verbal commitment. Nelson picked U of L over South Florida, Kentucky, Nebraska, Missouri, Wake Forest, Purdue, Iowa, Pittsburgh and North Carolina State among several other schools.

Nelson had 76 tackles, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries as a junior, while also scoring two touchdowns in spot play as a fullback.

The 25th verbal commitment in the Class of 2014 for the Cardinals, Nelson is the third commitment this week for U of L. Matthews, N.C., Butler linebacker Isaac Stewart committed on Monday, while Hilton Head Island, S.C., defensive tackle Poona Ford gave his pledge to U of L on Tuesday.

U of L now has 10 commitments from Florida.
