U of L baseball lands another in-state star

The University of Louisville baseball staff is on a roll in the Class of 2014. The Cardinals now have commitments from four of the top seven prospects in the state of Kentucky with the latest in-state commitment. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

With already three of the top seven in-state prospects in the Class of 2014 committed, the University of Louisville baseball staff has added another.

Lexington Christian pitcher Lincoln Henzman, ranked as the No. 2 in-state prospect by PerfectGame.Org and PrepBaseball.com, is the latest in-state star to give the Cardinals a verbal commitment.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Henzman recently told U of L coach Dan McDonnell and the staff that he would sign with the Cardinals.

Henzman, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, plays on the Kentucky Baseball Club with Devin Hairston of Tates Creek, who is also a U of L commitment. Other top in-state commitments include St. Xavier's Austin Clemons and Covington Catholic's Grant Schreiver.

Henzman is ranked as the No. 86 right-handed pitcher in the country and the No. 256 player in the country overall by Perfect Game.

"I really like the Louisville staff," Henzman said in a recent interview.

Henzman has a fastball that has hit 92 mph but he said his best pitch is his change up. He had a bunch of offers, including one from LSU.
