U of L football commitment updates

Several University of Louisville football commitments and recruits had big-time efforts on the gridiron last weekend for their respective high schools. Here's a look at some of the highlights from the weekend:

Nilijah Ballew, Cincinnati Walnut Hills, DB, 6-1, 180

Ballew had two tackles as Walnut Hills lost 45-0 to Fairfield. He has 11 tackles on the season for Walnut Hills (1-2).

Desean Blair, Jacksonville, Fla., Sandalwood, WR, 6-4, 180

No individual stats available but Sandalwood lost its first game of the season, dropping a 31-24 decision to Fletcher.

Reggie Bonnafon, Trinity, QB, 6-1, 175

Bonnafon didn't start because he had been sick all week but completed 21 of 27 passes for 206 yards and ran 10 times for 61 yards and a 26-yard touchdown in a 42-28 loss to Cincinnati Colerain.

Danny Burns, Fairfield, Ohio, OL, 6-7, 300

Fairfield amassed over 500 yards of total offense, including 225 rushing, during a 49-0 romp over Walnut Hills.

Zykiesis Cannon, Greenville, S.C., Carolina, S/WR, 5-11, 185

Carolina High dropped to 1-2 after a 38-6 loss to Christ Church Episcopal. Cannon has nine carries for 56 yards and eight catches for 98 yards and one touchdown in three games this season.

De'Eric Culver, Tallahassee, Fla., Godby, DB, 6-0, 180

Godby decked East Gasden 61-0 as Culver had four tackles – including three solo tackles – and one quarterback hurry in the game.

Micky Crum, Hamilton, Ohio, Township, LB-TE, 6-4, 220

Crum had 14 tackles and 175 yards receiving but Hamilton Township dropped to 1-2 after a 28-23 loss to Worthington Kilbourne.

Henry Famurewa, Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern, LB, 6-2, 230

Famurewa helped the McEachern defense shutdown Pebblebrook in a 53-7 victory.

Isaiah Ford, Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian, WR, 6-2, 165

Trinity Christian is 2-0 but had an open week last week.

Poona Ford, Hilton Head Island, S.C., DT, 6-1, 275

Ford helped Hilton Head Island to a 3-0 record with a 48-20 win over Battery Creek.

T.J. Foster, Union County, S.C., High, WR, 6-3, 170

Foster had eight catches for 154 yards in his first two games; Union County fell to 0-3 after a 31-28 loss to Greer.

Marques Gayot, Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista, 6-1, 190, WR

Gayot helped Park Vista to a 20-17 win over Seminole Ridge.

Daniel Gresham, Fort Worth, Tx., All Saints, RB, 5-11, 225

Gresham had three carries for 36 yards in a 56-14 blowout of Greenhill. He has 14 carries for 128 yards and four TDs in three games.

Trinity Christian is 2-0 but had an open week last week.

Michael Johnson, Hialeah, Fla., Champagnat Catholic, S, 6-3, 190

Champagnat Catholic moves to 3-0 on the season with a 49-0 win over Archbishop McCarthy.

Jared McCray, Minford, Ohio, OL, 6-4, 310

Minford moved to 3-0 with a 58-0 romp over Piketon.

Chris Nelson, Lakeland, Fla., Victory Christian, DT, 6-3, 275

Victory Christian is 3-0 after a 35-7 win over Holy Trinity Episcopal.

Devin Pike, Cincinnati Elder, TE, 6-5, 225

Pike had two catches for 18 yards as Elder downed Francis Howell 34-21.

Cameron Polk, Fishers, Ind., Hamilton SE, WR, 6-2, 185

Polk has been slowed a bit by an ankle but Hamilton SE still whipped Zionsville 21-3.

Terry Ramsey, Clayton, Ohio, Northmont, DE, 6-5, 216

Ramsey had two solo tackles and a sack in a 31-21 win over Lakota East.

George Rushing, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons, WR, WR, 6-2, 189

Rushing had five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown as Cardinal Gibbons stayed undefeated with a 31-0 win over Cooper City.

L.J. Scott, Marion, Ohio, Harding, RB, 5-11, 200

Scott carried 21 times for 111 yards and one touchdown but Harding dropped a 45-16 decision to Mansfield Senior.

Rashawn Shaw, Fort Pierce, Fla., Central, DE, 6-3, 230

Shaw helped the Central defense hold on, beating Osceola 22-16 to move to 2-0 on the season.

Isaac Stewart, Matthews, N.C., Butler, LB, 6-2, 235

No individual stats but Butler lost 21-15 to Mount Tabor.

Jeffrey Williams, Tallahassee, Fla., Lincoln, LB, 6-1, 190

No individual stats but Lincoln beat Sarasota 35-27.
