Famurewa having "spectacular" season

University of Louisville linebacker commit Henry Famurewa tells Cardinal Authority that his senior season at Powder Springs (Ga) McEachern is off to a spectacular start.

Powder Springs (Ga) McEachern linebacker Henry Famurewa became the 15th member of the Louisville 2014 recruiting class when he pledged to the Cardinals in early June. The three-star prospect had collected 10 scholarship offers before choosing U of L over Boston College, Iowa, Mississippi State, NC State and others.

Following his commitment, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Famurewa turned his focus on his senior season.

"I'm having a spectacular senior season," he told Cardinal Authority. "It's going great."

"My team is doing really well. We are second in the state right now. I'm doing great, actually more than I expected."

Famurewa is currently second on his team with over 30 tackles. He's also recorded 7 tackles for a loss, including 3.5 sacks, and has forced two fumbles.

In his team's victory over the weekend, Famurewa picked up a fumble and raced towards the end zone.

"I scored on a fumble recovery. I picked it up and ran it in from about 20 yards," he said.

While he has yet to make it to Louisville for a game, he does remain in frequent contact with the Cardinals coaching staff and catches the Cardinals games on TV.

"I talk to them a lot," he said. "I talk to Strong, Coach B.J. and Bedford."

"The defense is flying to the ball. My team plays like they do. Swarming to the ball, gang tackling and they are getting great rushes. The whole defense is playing great as a unit. Bridgewater is playing like a leader and playing like everyone thought he would. They are steamrolling right now."

Famurewa continues to draw attention from other programs, but remains firm with his commitment.

"They're coming after me, but I'm solid. I'm committed and I'm not going to leave that."
