U of L baseball, softball scrimmages on tap

The University of Louisville baseball and softball teams will have fall scrimmages this weekend. Cardinal Authority has the latest on the two spring sports, who are preparing for next season during this fall campaign.

With no football on tap this weekend for the University of Louisville, it would be a good time to go check out the U of L baseball and softball teams.

Both programs are going through the fall campaign and have scrimmages this weekend as they prepare for next season.

The U of L baseball team has scrimmaged for the past two weekends and will again have two scrimmages this weekend. The team has been having full-squad fall workouts for most of the month.

The scrimmage times this weekend are at 3 p.m. on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium. Admission to the scrimmages is free.

The baseball team is scheduled to host weekend scrimmages every weekend until the conclusion of full-squad workouts in mid-October.

U of L's softball team won't be having fall scrimmages at Ulmer Stadium because of the stadium expansion, so the Cardinals will play at Bellarmine.

The softball team plays Bellarmine at 11 a.m. on Saturday and then will meet Eastern Kentucky at 1 p.m. On Sunday, the Cardinals will play Bellarmine at 11 a.m. and Tennessee State at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals will play games at 1 p.m. on Oct. 5 (Ball State) and 1 o'clock on Oct. 6 (Wallace State) for the final fall scrimmages.

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on the fall workouts.
