U of L football: Commitment update

Several University of Louisville football commitments and recruits had big-time efforts on the gridiron last weekend for their respective high schools. Here's a look at some of the highlights from the weekend:

Nilijah Ballew, Cincinnati Walnut Hills, DB, 6-1, 180

Ballew had six tackles after missing two games as Walnut Hills won 24-8 over Shroder Paideia.

Desean Blair, Jacksonville, Fla., Sandalwood, WR, 6-4, 180

Blair had seven catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns as Sandalwood beat Jackson 48-7.

Reggie Bonnafon, Trinity, QB, 6-1, 175

Bonnafon completed 9 of 14 passes for 157 yards and ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-30 win over Indianapolis Cathedral.

Danny Burns, Fairfield, Ohio, OL, 6-7, 300

Fairfield moved to 5-0 with a 19-14 win over Oak Hills.

Zykiesis Cannon, Greenville, S.C., Carolina, S/WR, 5-11, 185

Cannon had six catches for 37 yards and one carry for six yards as Carolina decked Chesnee 47-14.

De'Eric Culver, Tallahassee, Fla., Godby, DB, 6-0, 180

Godby didn't play last weekend.

Micky Crum, Hamilton, Ohio, Township, LB-TE, 6-4, 220

Crum had 15 tackles, one sack and returned an interception for a touchdown and also caught six passes for 101 yards and a TD as Hamilton Township beat Amanda-Clearkcreek 28-23.

Henry Famurewa, Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern, LB, 6-2, 230

No individual stats but McEachern is now undefeated after five games following a 41-7 win over Kennesaw Mountain.

Isaiah Ford, Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian, WR, 6-2, 165

Ford had five catches for 103 yards and one touchdown as Trinity Christian rolled to a 39-0 win over University.

Poona Ford, Hilton Head Island, S.C., DT, 6-1, 275

Ford ran for 61 yards and three touchdowns and finished with four tackles for a loss, two sacks and 12 tackles in a 33-32 win over Bluffton.

T.J. Foster, Union County, S.C., High, WR, 6-3, 170

Foster caught seven passes for 72 yards and a touchdown as Union County beat Newberry 35-17.

Marques Gayot, Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista, 6-1, 190, WR

Park Vista is 3-1 and had an open week.

Daniel Gresham, Fort Worth, Tx., All Saints, RB, 5-11, 225

Gresham had nine carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-13 win over the Episcopal School of Dallas.

Kavaris Harkless, Jacksonville, Fla., OL, 6-5, 273

Harkless was key for an offense that won 39-0 over University.

Michael Johnson, Hialeah, Fla., Champagnat Catholic, S, 6-3, 190

No individual stats but Champagnat Catholic beat Inlet Grove 56-0.

Jared McCray, Minford, Ohio, OL, 6-4, 310

Minford moved to 5-0 with a 36-0 over Oak Hill.

Chris Nelson, Lakeland, Fla., Victory Christian, DT, 6-3, 275

No individual stats but Victory beat Crescent City 47-34.

Devin Pike, Cincinnati Elder, TE, 6-5, 225

Pike had three catches for 35 yards in a 20-13 win over Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.

Cameron Polk, Fishers, Ind., Hamilton SE, WR, 6-2, 185

Polk had two catches for 42 yards in a 38-18 loss to Westfield.

Terry Ramsey, Clayton, Ohio, Northmont, DE, 6-5, 216

Ramsey helped lead Northmont to a 47-8 win over Dunbar.

George Rushing, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons, WR, WR, 6-2, 189

Rushing had 10 catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-18 win over Northeast.

L.J. Scott, Marion, Ohio, Harding, RB, 5-11, 200

Scott rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns as Hardin beat Toledo Scott 40-6.

Rashawn Shaw, Fort Pierce, Fla., Central, DE, 6-3, 230

Shaw led a defense that allowed just 201 yards in a 49-20 win over Sebastian River.

Isaac Stewart, Matthews, N.C., Butler, LB, 6-2, 235

No individual stats but Butler waxed Garinger 68-0.

Jeffrey Williams, Tallahassee, Fla., Lincoln, LB, 6-1, 190

Williams' Lincoln team dropped a 43-42 decision to Rickards.


Ross Trail, Olive Branch, Miss., QB, 6-3, 220

Trail was 14 of 19 for 239 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-12 win over Southhaven.
