Desean Blair said he's helping break in a new quarterback at Sandalwood High School this season and so far it's been pretty solid.
The University of Louisville commitment is one of the top wide receivers in the Jacksonville, Fla., area and started the season with just two catches in the opener.
But Blair has come on strong from the 4-1 Saints. He has 23 catches for 364 yards and five touchdowns, including his best game of the season last week with seven catches for 94 yards and two TDs in a win over Jackson.
"We started off a little slow, but the season had been alright for us," he said. "We have a new quarterback and we're starting to pick it up.
"It's been fun and we're getting better."
Blair had six catches for 95 yards and two TDs in a win over Paxon, while also catching four passes for 77 yards in a loss to Fletcher.
"I have improved on my jump balls; I'm a lot better at that," Blair said. "The thing I still need to improve on the most is coming out of my routes quicker."
Blair, who committed to U of L in April, said he was "excited" to have the process behind him and said he still gets a few letters from other schools but "really can't wait until I can get to Louisville."
"Coming into the season being committed to a school is a big difference, honestly it's like you are playing on a different level," Bair said. "I'm excited."
Blair said some of the 25 commitments have been talking about coming on an official visit the same weekend in December. But he said he also wants to try and get up to a game this summer to see the Cardinals.
But for now, Blair is watching closely on TV.
"I have watched every game and love to turn it on ESPN and see Louisville in there," he said. "Coach Strong, Teddy, Damien, DeVante, everybody on there. It's fun to see them on there and know I will be there next year."
Blair said he's watched DeVante Parker a lot, noting the jump balls that he catches are "so beautiful," hoping to get a few tricks from him."He just goes up with authority and snatches that thing out of the air," Blair said. "It's so beautiful. I love watching him play."
