Decisions coming for U of L hoops targets

Two of the University of Louisville's top remaining basketball targets are the Class of 2014 are expected to make a decision in the coming days. Cardinal Authority has the latest on the two pending decisions.

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino and his staff already have two verbal commitments in the Class of 2014.

Now, two of the top remaining targets for the Cardinals are expected to make a decision in the next few days.

Upper Marlboro, Md., big man Chinanu Onuaku is expected to pick U of L, Georgetown or Miami on Friday, , while Sam Cassell Jr., is expected to pick between U of L and Connecticut with Missouri and Marquette also still in the mix.

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Onuaku is listed as the No. 69 player in the country by Scout.com and the No. 9 center prospect.

Onuaku visited U of L early last month and had been thought to be down to just U of L and Miami but last week made a surprise late visit to Georgetown. The Cardinals are still solid in the mix for Onuaku.

The 6-foot-4 Cassell is the son of Sam Cassell Sr., a two-time NBA All-Star, who attends Mariana, Fla., Chipola College. He had been considered a strong lean to UConn until recent weeks when U of L jumped into the mix.

The Cardinals had him in for an official visit last weekend but his decision is up in the air. He said he could make a call in "the next few days," noting there's no time set.
