U of L football: Commitment updates

Several University of Louisville football commitments and recruits had big-time efforts on the gridiron last weekend for their respective high schools. Here's a look at some of the highlights from the weekend:

Nilijah Ballew, Cincinnati Walnut Hills, DB, 6-1, 180

No individual stats reported in a 31-28 loss to Glen Este.

Desean Blair, Jacksonville, Fla., Sandalwood, WR, 6-4, 180

Blair had one catch for a 30-yard TD in a 36-15 win over Atlantic Coast.

Reggie Bonnafon, Trinity, QB, 6-1, 175

Bonnafon completed 16 of 22 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns and ran 10 times for 113 yards and one TD in a 38-30 win over Manual.

Danny Burns, Fairfield, Ohio, OL, 6-7, 300

Burns and his Fairfield team lost 35-3 to Lakota West, the first lost of the season.

Zykiesis Cannon, Greenville, S.C., Carolina, S/WR, 5-11, 185

Cannon did it all, rushing three times for 33 yards, catching five passes for 49 yards and completing 4 of 4 passes for 78 yards in a 21-12 loss to Crescent.

De'Eric Culver, Tallahassee, Fla., Godby, DB, 6-0, 180

Culver had nine tackles, including six solo tackles, and two interceptions as Godby beat Trinity Christian 42-6.

Micky Crum, Hamilton, Ohio, Township, LB-TE, 6-4, 220

Crum ran for 57 yards and a 1-yard touchdown and completed a 92-yard pass to Deric Phouthavong for the game-winning TD in a 20-10 win over Teays Valley.

Henry Famurewa, Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern, LB, 6-2, 230

Famurewa helped McEachern stay undefeated with a 40-0 win over South Cobb.

Isaiah Ford, Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian, WR, 6-2, 165

Ford caught two passes for 76 yards and one TD in a 27-6 loss to Godby.

Poona Ford, Hilton Head Island, S.C., DT, 6-1, 275

Ford was a standout on defense and also rushed 12 times for 60 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-13 win over James Island.

T.J. Foster, Union County, S.C., High, WR, 6-3, 170

Foster has 18 catches for 267 yards and two TDs in four games this season; but his team fell 28-27 to Broome last week.

Marques Gayot, Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista, 6-1, 190, WR

Gayot helped Park Vista beat Jupiter 49-7.

Daniel Gresham, Fort Worth, Tx., All Saints, RB, 5-11, 225

Gresham had two carries for two yards and one TD and added a 14-yard reception in a 52-3 blowout of Holland Hall.

Kavaris Harkless, Jacksonville, Fla., OL, 6-5, 273

Harkless' team dropped a 27-6 decision to Godby.

Michael Johnson, Hialeah, Fla., Champagnat Catholic, S, 6-3, 190

No individual statistics but team won 34-13 over Chaminade-Madonna.

Jared McCray, Minford, Ohio, OL, 6-4, 310

McCray helped Minford beat Northwest 60-7.

Chris Nelson, Lakeland, Fla., Victory Christian, DT, 6-3, 275

Victory Christian is 4-2 and had an open week.

Devin Pike, Cincinnati Elder, TE, 6-5, 225

Pike had six catches for 83 yards in a 35-14 loss to Moeller.

Cameron Polk, Fishers, Ind., Hamilton SE, WR, 6-2, 185

Polk had three catches for 99 yards in a 34-7 win over Henry Harrison.

Terry Ramsey, Clayton, Ohio, Northmont, DE, 6-5, 216

No statistics but beat Centerville 41-34.

George Rushing, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons, WR, WR, 6-2, 189

Rushing has helped his team to a 6-0 record; last week was a bye.

L.J. Scott, Marion, Ohio, Harding, RB, 5-11, 200

Scott ran 22 times for 245 yards and two TDs in a 46-27 win over Sandusky.

Rashawn Shaw, Fort Pierce, Fla., Central, DE, 6-3, 230

Shaw helped Central beat Mandarin 31-27 to go 7-0.

Isaac Stewart, Matthews, N.C., Butler, LB, 6-2, 235

Butler moved to 6-2 with a 42-14 win over Myers Park.

Jeffrey Williams, Tallahassee, Fla., Lincoln, LB, 6-1, 190

Lincoln is 4-2 on the season after a bye week.


Ross Trail, Olive Branch, Miss., QB, 6-3, 220

Trail didn't play because of an injury in a loss to DeSoto-Central.
