U of L football: Recruiting board for '14

The University of Louisville football staff already has 25 verbal commitments for the Class of 2014. But the Cardinals are not finished. The U of L staff is actively recruiting a few other prospects. Here are 10 prospects to keep an eye on in the coming months:

Louisville has made the short list with Cage, one of the top prospects left on the board for the Cardinals. He's considering U of L and Michigan State but was recently watched by Ohio State and the Buckeyes could get in the mix.

At 6-foot-2, 295 pounds, Cage is considered the No. 6 defensive tackle in the country. As a junior, Cage had 44 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks after 54 tackles, 26 tackles for a loss and 22 sacks as a sophomore.

The latest:
Louisville has been after Lee for a long time and he's expected to make his decision on Nov. 8 – his birthday. U of L is high on his list but at last check he was also still considering California, Oregon, Penn State, Northwestern and Virginia Tech. He called the Cardinals "a team on the rise."

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Lee is ranked as the No. 26 outside linebacker in the country and is one of the top prospects in the state of Indiana.

The former North Carolina commitment recently visited Minnesota and said the Gophers, U of L, UNC and South Florida are his top schools. He's high on the Cardinals, noting they are in the lead at this time.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pound Johnson is listed as the No. 85 running back in the country and is expected to make a decision before signing day.

McNeil has 20 scholarship offers and has taken one official visit – North Carolina State. He's been on unofficial visits to several schools, including Louisville, Indiana and Michigan State.

The 6-foot-7, 270-pound McNeil is the No. 56 offensive tackle in the country and has a huge upside. He's a talented kid with a bright future.

The latest:
Malone has official visits set up to Clemson and Florida State and has already taken trips to Tennessee and Georgia. Louisville, Florida and Ohio State are trying to get him on a trip for his fifth official visit.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Malone is a dynamic player and considered the No. 15 wide receiver in the country. He's expected to make a decision on Dec. 4.

The latest:
Knox recently decommitted from Florida and said Louisville was his top school. He said Auburn and Mississippi are the other schools showing him the most interest since he backed away from his commitment to the Gators.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound appears to really like Louisville and his addition would be a major boost to this class.

A running back, linebacker and safety in high school, said he will make visits to U of L, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina State and Michigan State and is also still considering Florida State.

The 6-foot, 180-pound is projected as a safety by most schools and is ranked as the No. 42 safety in the country.

Johnson has more than two dozen scholarship offers and made an unofficial visit to Syracuse and will take an official visit there in January. The Cards are among the other schools still trying to stay in the mix.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Johnson is considered the No. 123 cornerback in the country.

The former LSU commitment has already visited Arkansas and has one planned for this month to Oregon. He also plans on visiting at least Louisville and Tennessee before making a new decision.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Rhaheed is a close friend and teammate of U of L commitment Rashawn Shaw.

Dixon made an unofficial visit to Louisville in June and called it "tremendous," now he'll come back for an official visit sometime soon. He recently visited Michigan State and has a bunch of other schools still in pursuit.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Dixon is listed as the No. 119 safety in the country.
