The University of Louisville women's basketball team made a nifty first impression on the public in an exhibition game on Tuesday.
The Cardinals had eight players in double figures and ran Pikeville out of the gym with a 127-40 decision before about 5,000 fans.
Asia Taylor, who missed all of last season with a hip injury, led the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Cardinals' jumped out to a 24-0 lead and led 67-20 at halftime.
Shawnta' Dyer, who missed all but eight games last season because of a knee injury, added 14 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Tia Gibbs - out for two seasons with injuries - added 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Senior Shoni Schimmel had 12 points and seven assists, while freshman Emmonnie Henderson had 13 points and eight rebounds. Cortnee Walton and Sara Hammond had 11 apiece, while Jude Schimmel chipped in 10 points and seven assists.
U of L was 52 of 88 - 59.1 percent - from the field and held Pikeville to 14 of 54.
The Cardinals are ranked No. 5 in the preseason and will open the season on Saturday night at 7 o'clock against Loyola (Ill.)
