From the locker room: Cards win opener

The University of Louisville opened defense of its national title with a 70-48 victory over College of Charleston on Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum Center. The Cardinals used a 22-2 run late in the game to blow it open. Here are a few videos from the locker room after the game:

Senior Russ Smith scored 21 points as the University of Louisville basketball blew open the game late in a 70-48 win over College of Charleston.

The Cardinals have now won 17 straight games after finishing last season on a 16-game winning streak.

Smith was 7 of 17 from the field as the Cardinals finished just 26 of 68 – including one stretch of 12 straight missed field-goal attempts.

Chris Jones added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Wayne Blackshear had 11 points and Montrezl Harrell added 10 points and eight rebounds.

U of L had just three turnovers.
