U of L women roll in opener, 101-54

The University of Louisville women's basketball team rolled to a 101-54 victory in the season-opener over Loyola of Chicago on Saturday night before 7,511 fans at the KFC Yum! Center.

Six players scored in double figures, including 11 apiece from Jude and Shoni Schimmel, as the Cardinals cruised.

The Schimmel sisters hit three three-pointers apiece, while Shoni also had five rebounds.

Bria Smith led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Tia Gibbs had 13 points and Asia Taylor added 12 points and seven boards.

Sara Hammond finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Emmonnie Henderson had seven points and 12 rebounds.

U of L hit 37 of 79 from the field and just 18 of 34 free throws. The Cardinal set a school record with 68 rebounds, winning the battle of the boards by 35.
