U of L beats Memphis - notebook

The University of Louisville football team moved to 10-1 on the season with a 24-17 victory over Memphis on Saturday afternoon. Here are a few notebook items from the locker room after the game:

PRYOR SITS OUT

University of Louisville All-American safety Calvin Pryor missed Saturday's game with Memphis because of a violation of team rules.

U of L coach Charlie Strong said after a 24-17 win over Memphis that Pryor violated a rule and "will be back next game."

Pryor is the second-leading tackler on the team with 57 and has three interceptions and two forced fumbles. The junior from Port St. Joe, Fla., was on the sidelines with his teammates during the game.

Gerod Holliman played in place of Pryor and had five tackles.

BRIDGEWATER INJURES TAILBONE

U of L quarterback Teddy Bridgewater completed 26 of 36 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown in the win over the Tigers.

But it didn't come without some pain.

Bridgewater was sacked four times and hit hard late in the second quarter. He was noticeably limping the rest of the game and several times had some sort of treatment on the sidelines by trainers.

After the game, Bridgewater said, "I'm good."

"It was actually my tailbone," he said. "That was bothering me a lot but you know we were still able to pull through it. It wasn't too bad.

"I was able to finish the game healthy. I will get some treatment and I'll be back. The trainer gave me an icy hot patch and it worked."

Bridgewater ran 10 times for 17 yards.

18 GO THROUGH SENIOR DAY

U of L said goodbye to 18 seniors before the game, with Strong handing each player a rose for their mothers.

Senior right guard Kamran Joyer was expected to go through the festivities but didn't and is likely getting a sixth year of eligibility. Joyer was injured early in his career and missed one season without playing a game.

Cornerback Stephan Robinson was also originally expected to go through the festivities but wasn't out there with the seniors.

ROGERS MISSES THE FIRST HALF

Junior wide receiver Eli Rogers missed the first half of the game because of a targeting violation from the Houston game.

Rogers wasn't flagged for a penalty in the third quarter against Houston on a block. But a review by the league office deemed it was targeting.

He returned in the second half and had one catch for six yards.

INJURY UPDATES

Wide receiver Kai De La Cruz and defensive back Andrew Johnson were both out again with injuries. Both are expected back sometime this season.

Sophomore offensive lineman Nacho Garcia is sidelined for the rest of the season after having surgery on his knee.

Freshman linebacker James Hearns is still out with an injury.
