U of L football recruiting: Commitment update

Several University of Louisville football commitments and recruits had big-time efforts on the gridiron last weekend for their respective high schools. Here's a look at some of the highlights from the weekend:

Here are some highlights University of Louisville commitments and recruits had last week with their respective high schools:

Nilijah Ballew, Cincinnati Walnut Hills, DB, 6-1, 180

Ballew finished with 90 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for a 4-6 Walnut Hills team. He was named first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Southwest Ohio.

Desean Blair, Jacksonville, Fla., Sandalwood, WR, 6-4, 180

Blair finished his solid season two weeks ago when he caught four passes for 33 yards in a 25-6 playoff loss to Lake Mary. Blair had 13 touchdown catches.

Reggie Bonnafon, Trinity, QB, 6-1, 175

Bonnafon finished the season with a 17-for-36 effort for 216 yards and a touchdown run in a loss to Male. He finished the season 190 of 306 (62.1 percent) for 2,606 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He rushed 165 times for 895 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Danny Burns, Fairfield, Ohio, OL, 6-7, 300

Fairfield finished 9-2 with a loss in the playoffs to Pickerington North.

Zykiesis Cannon, Greenville, S.C., Carolina, S/WR, 5-11, 185

Cannon did a little bit of everything for a 4-7 Carolina team that was eliminated by Newbery in the playoffs. He made 95 tackles, including 66 solo tackles, had two interceptions and one fumble recovery on defense. He completed 4 of 6 passes for 10 yards, rushed six times for 26 yards and caught eight passes for 94 yards and one touchdown. He also had a kickoff return for 37 yards.

De'Eric Culver, Tallahassee, Fla., Godby, DB, 6-0, 180

Culver helped Godby to a 10-2 record before a 41-40 loss to West Florida in the playoffs. He had 51 tackles, including 40 solo tackles, four interceptions, six deflected passes and two quarterback hurries.

Micky Crum, Hamilton, Ohio, Township, LB-TE, 6-4, 220

Was named to the first-team All-Central District Division II defensive squad after a banner season. Hamilton Township finished 7-3.

Henry Famurewa, Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern, LB, 6-2, 230

Famurewa helped McEachern reach the Class 6-A quarterfinals for the first time in 14 years with a 22-21 win over Hughes. McEachern is 10-2 on the season. Famurewa has 15 sacks this season.

Isaiah Ford, Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian, WR, 6-2, 165

Ford had three catches for 127 yards and three touchdowns as Trinity Christian rolled over Trinity Catholic 46-17 in the Class 3-A quarterfinals.

Poona Ford, Hilton Head Island, S.C., DT, 6-1, 275

Ford's season ended a few weeks back after a 7-4 record.

T.J. Foster, Union County, S.C., High, WR, 6-3, 170

Foster had 22 catches for 338 yards and three touchdowns as Union County finished the season 2-8.

Marques Gayot, Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista, 6-1, 190, WR

Park Vista finished the season 8-3 with a loss in the playoffs.

Daniel Gresham, Fort Worth, Tx., All Saints, RB, 5-11, 225

Gresham finished the season with 93 carries for 927 yards and 19 TDs and helped All Saints to a second consecutive SPC small school title in Texas.

Kavaris Harkless, Jacksonville, Fla., OL, 6-5, 273

Harkless has helped a Trinity Christian team into the Class 3-A quarterfinals with a 10-1 record.

Michael Johnson, Hialeah, Fla., Champagnat Catholic, S, 6-3, 190

Johnson has helped his team to a 12-1 victory and semifinal game in the Class 2-A playoffs against Indian Rocks.

Chris Nelson, Lakeland, Fla., Victory Christian, DT, 6-3, 275

Nelson has helped Victory Christian to a 9-3 mark and semifinal spot in the Class 2-A playoffs against North Florida Christian.

Devin Pike, Cincinnati Elder, TE, 6-5, 225

Pike finished the season with 39 catches for 432 yards and two TDs.

Cameron Polk, Fishers, Ind., Hamilton SE, WR, 6-2, 185

Hamilton SE finished the season 7-3; Polk plans to enroll in January.

Terry Ramsey, Clayton, Ohio, Northmont, DE, 6-5, 216

Northmont lost in the playoffs to Elder and finished 8-3.

George Rushing, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons, WR, WR, 6-2, 189

Rushing finished his season with 670 yards and 13 touchdowns; Cardinal Gibbons lost 25-23 to Immokalee last week.

L.J. Scott, Marion, Ohio, Harding, RB, 5-11, 200

Scott had over 1,000 all-purpose yards for Harding and was named first-team Northwest All-District.

Rashawn Shaw, Fort Pierce, Fla., Central, DE, 6-3, 230

Central is 10-1 and plays Tampa Plant in the Class 8-A quarterfinals this week.

Isaac Stewart, Matthews, N.C., Butler, LB, 6-2, 235

Stewart has helped Butler to an 11-3 mark and Class 4-A semifinal game this week against West Forsyth.

Jeffrey Williams, Tallahassee, Fla., Lincoln, LB, 6-1, 190

Williams helped Lincoln to a 7-4 season.

2015 COMMITMENT

Justin Crawford, Columbus, Ga., Hardaway, RB, 5-11, 198

Hardaway finished the season 2-8.

Ross Trail, Olive Branch, Miss., QB, 6-3, 220

Trail led Olive Branch to a 7-5 mark and made a visit to U of L last weekend.
