Jacksonville stars ready for visit to U of L

The University of Louisville football team will be hosting five official visitors this weekend, including Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian stars Isaiah Ford and Kavaris Harkless. Both have already committed to U of L. Cardinal Authority has the latest on the prospects.

One week after winning the Florida Class 3-A state championship, Isaiah Ford and Kavaris Harkless are checking out the future.

The standouts from Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian School will both be making official visits to the University of Louisville this weekend. Both have already committed to the Cardinals back in the spring.

"Looking forward to it," Ford, a standout wide receiver who had 121 all-purpose yards in the state title game last weekend, said.

The 6-foot-5 275-pound Harkless is an offensive lineman who is expected to enroll at U of L next month. The 6-2, 175-pound Ford said he won't enroll until the summer.

Harkless said he just wants to "check out" where he will be spending his next four years. He said he will enroll in January, start school on Jan. 6 and be able to participate in spring practice with the Cardinals.

Ford is considered one of the top U of L commitments in the 24-prospect class. He's still getting other looks, including Virginia Tech.

But Ford, who plans to walk-on at U of L for basketball, said he is still committed to the Cardinals and is excited about the visit.

"I am still committed," Ford said. "The familyness of the team, the way coach Strong is a players coach, it's a great situation.

"I can call him and talk for hours and it doesn't have to be about football."

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on the recruitment - and visits - of both prospects.
