Chris Jones out for two games

University of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino announced on Friday that junior guard Chris Jones will miss the next two games due to a sprained wrist. Cardinal Authority has this report.

University of Louisville guard Chris Jones suffered a sprained wrist injury during practice on Thursday and was initially listed as day-to-day. During his pregame press conference, head coach Rick Pitino announced that Jones would out for the next two games.

"That takes a big chunk out of our offensive arsenal," Pitino said on Friday afternoon.

Jones, who's 25.8 minutes per game average is tops on the team, has started 8 of 9 games and is averaging 14.6 points an outing. He should return to the lineup for the Cardinals road game at Florida International on December 21.

"Just part of practice. It's like an ankle sprain. He injured in practice about a week ago and then he bent it back a second time."

"It's his shooting hand, so we're just happy it's not fractured or broken," Pitino added. "It's probably going to be two games so by the time we get down to Miami it should be healed."

With Jones unable to go, Pitino will give true freshman Terry Rozier that start in the backcourt alongside All-American Russ Smith.

"We'll obviously start Terry Rozier. Probably come off the bench first with Tim Henderson and then play it by ear from there."

With two career starts in his young career, Rozier is contributing 5.1 points a game and his 19 assists is third on the team.
