Trio of Card commits going to bowl together

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three of the University of Louisville's 24 verbal commitments in the Class of 2014 will be at the Russell Athletic Bowl, watching the game together. Cardinal Authority has the latest on the trio and how they arranged the trip.

University of Louisville quarterback commitment Reggie Bonnafon was the first member of the Class of 2014 and has been a leader among the future Cardinals.

Now, he's helped planned a trip to watch the Cardinals play.

Bonnafon, a senior at Trinity High School, said the commitments all have a chat group they communicate with each other through and when talk turned to watching U of L in the Russell Athletic Bowl he perked up.

"We just all started talking about it," he said.

On Saturday, Bonnafon will spend the evening with two other U of L commitments watching the Cardinals play Miami in the bowl game.

"It should be a lot of fun," Bonnafon said. "We all just talked about going and Desean and George are going to be here."

Bonnafon will be joined by Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons wide receiver George Rushing and Sandalwood, Fla., wide receiver Desean Blair.

"We already knew each other from our visits," Rushing said of the trio. "We all can't wait to get started (at U of L).

"I can't wait to see the game. I feel like I'm ready to get out there and be part of the team. I don't like Miami. I live about 20 minutes from campus and can't wait till we beat them."

There will be plenty of recruits watching the game from afar but Bonnafon said it was "cool" that three could watch it together in the stands.
