Three University of Louisville football recruits made plans several weeks ago to attend the Russell Athletic Bowl.
But there was another commitment also in the stands, Hilton Head Island, S.C., defensive tackle Poona Ford was a surprise visitor to the game and was dressed in a U of L t-shirt.
Ford told Cardinal Authority that he "had to see" the Cards in the bowl game.
"It was just wild," Ford said. "I knew they had a great defense, it was wild sitting there watching them do that (to Miami)."
Ford, who is heading this week to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in Carson, Calif., said he "can't wait" for his visit next month to U of L. He said South Carolina and Clemson were still recruiting him hard.
But Ford said, "right now it's all Louisville for me." He added the win over Miami was "very, very impressive" for the Cardinals.
Bonnafon, the four-star quarterback from Trinity High School, said it was "amazing to watch how we played in all phases of the game" and said he enjoyed his time with Rushing and Blair at the bowl game.
"Offensively, we did everything you could possibly do and watching Teddy (Bridgewater) is just amazing in itself," Bonnafon said. "It was very motivating watching the team celebrate during and after the game and it makes me that much more excited to be a Cardinal."
Blair, a wide receiver from Sandalwood, Fla., said he "knew we were gonna win before I even got there," to the stadium.
"I could feel the energy and I was so proud of my future program," Blair said. "Watching the players and coaches was truly amazing."
