The University of Louisville basketball team will be without one of its top front court players the rest of the season.

Junior forward Chane Behanan has been dismissed from the team for a violation of university policy, according to coach Rick Pitino.

Pitino said he found out the news on Sunday night. The team leaves this afternoon for Orlando, Fla., and Tuesday's game against Central Florida.

"Away from the lines he just did not do the right things over and over and over," Pitino said.

A native of Cincinnati, Behanan was suspended several times during his career at U of L. He missed the opener this season because of discipline problems.

in a statement, Behanan said he wanted to "apologize for letting down my family, teammates, coaches, the university and the Louisville fans.

The MVP of the West Region two years ago, Behanan was on the Final Four all-tournament team last season. He ended his career with zero points on Saturday in a loss at Kentucky.
