Is Charlie Strong interviewing at Texas?

According to a report out of Austn, Texas, University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong has met with Texas athletic director Steve Patterson about the Longhorns' job opening. Cardinal Authority has the latest on the situation and any developing news.

A website that covers the University of Texas is reporting that Louisville football coach Charlie Strong has interviewed for the Longhorns' football position.

Strong, who just finished his fourth season at U of L with a third bowl victory, is in Louisville but was unavailable for comment.

Three different sources from U of L said Texas athletic director Steve Patterson nor Strong asked permission for the two parties to speak. One U of L source said the school "had no idea" if anything was going on with the story.

U of L athletic director Tom Jurich told WRDB.com that Patterson called him on Tuesday morning and that he returned the call 10 minutes later but received no answer.

"He never called me back," Jurich told the station.

Strong was a hot commodity last season but then signed a new contract extension after getting an offer - and turning down - Tennessee. He said two weeks ago that he "doesn't listen" to job speculation and that he "still had a lot of work left to do," at U of L.

U of L defeated Miami 36-9 in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Saturday in Orlando, capping a 12-1 season and 23-3 mark in two seasons. The Cardinals also beat Florida in last year's AllState Sugar Bowl.

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on any breaking news with the situation.
