The University of Louisville basketball team had the day off on Monday, but coach Rick Pitino was putting in work on the recruiting trail.
Pitino was in Franklin, Ohio, this afternoon with assistant coach Kevin Keatts watching 2015 sharpshooter Luke Kennard.
The 6-foot-4 Kennard is ranked as the No. 4 shooting guard and the No. 15 player overall in the Class of 2015, according to Scout.com.
"Luke has talked to coach Pitino a few times and he said he wanted to come watch him practice," Kennard's father, Mark, said. "We have talked to them for a while and it's been over a year, but we have been on campus.
"They came to watch him practice."
Kennard has over 20 scholarship offers and is a top target of U of L, Kentucky, Ohio State, Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, Michigan and others. He was sitting behind the bench on Sunday at the Ohio State game.
Mark Kennard said his son could narrow his list but it was "up to him. He has a list of six, seven, eight schools but we'll try and get that narrowed down even more."
The father said U of L was "for sure," in Kennard's top five schools.
"Coach Pitino is one of the top-notch coaches in the game," Mark Kennard said. "Just look at his record, and I am not talking about wins and losses. Look at the way he develops players."
Kennard is averaging close to 40 points a game and has scored a school-record 51, only to beat that with a 53-point effort.
He's also a standout quarterback in football and has received an offer from former U of L coach Charlie Strong before he left for Texas. It's his only football offer.
