Running backs coach Kolby Smith made an in-home visit with Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandlewood wide receiver Desean Blair on Thursday.
"It went great," Blair told Cardinal Authority. "It was nice to sit down with him and learn more. I had my whole family there, so it was a really nice visit."
While a transition through a coaching change can be difficult, Blair was impressed by his building relationship with the former Cardinal running back.
"He's a great guy and someone that I can tell that I can get along with really well," he said of Smith.
The three-star prospect remains firm in his commitment and will make his official visit next weekend.
A pair of teammates continue to draw heavy interest from the Cardinals coaching staff. Both received offers from the previous staff, but Bobby Petrino's squad has since confirmed that the offers still stand.
"Missouri and Louisville are trying to get me visit," Bayes said. "I know a lot about Louisville and what they have going on there."
Bayes, a three-star linebacker, is a current South Florida commit and will trip to Tampa for his official visit this weekend. He's claims to be a firm commitment with the Bulls, but the possibility to visit others does exist.
"To be honest, a lot will depend on how well this visit goes," he said.
Johnson is a three-star running back who has collected numerous offers and told Scout.com that he's considering "Louisville, South Florida, UCLA, Florida and Minnesota. That's in no order either."
Gerrick McGree visited the school on Thursday in an effort to strengthen U of L's relationship with the pair.
McGee also visited with Tampa Catholic athlete T.J. Harrell, a three-star safety prospect that has continually listed Louisville among his favorites. Harrell is making his official visit this weekend.
Bobby Petrino used his time during his first recruiting weekend visiting four-star quarterback commit Reggie Bonnafon before traveling to Indianapolis to spend time with offensive lineman pledge Lukayus McNeil.
"It went really good," Bonnafon said of his time with Petrino. "I like him a lot and he's excited for me to get on campus."
Bonnafon is making his official visit this weekend
A one-time concrete commitment to U of L, 3-star wide receiver George Rushing will make his official visit next weekend. The Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons product is also now considering LSU, Wisconsin, Wake Forest and Missouri.
Buckely Visits Teammates
As reported in the Cardinal Authority Insiders Forum yesterday, new U of L defensive backs coach Terrell Buckely's first recruiting trip included a stop in Fort Pierce, Fla., to visit Rashawn Shaw and Sharieff Rhaheed.
Shaw, a three-star defensive end, is currently committed but is considering Arkansas, Georgia Tech and Purdue.
Also a three-star defensive end prospect, Rhaheed has been a priority recruiting target for U of L and remains so following the coaching change. Alabama, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina State and Tennessee are also in the mix.
