North Miami Beach WR set to visit Louisville

North Miami Beach, Fla., wide receiver Steve Ishmael is looking at three schools and will make a visit to the University of Louisville on Jan. 31. Cardinal Authority spoke with Ishmael and has an update on his recruiting process.

North Miami Beach, Fla., wide receiver Steve Ishmael had been hearing from the University of Louisville for quite a while with the previous staff.

But now, the new staff at U of L has turned up the intensity.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Ishmael will make his third – and final – visit to Louisville on Jan. 31. He visited Syracuse last weekend and will head to Cincinnati this weekend before making a decision after his U of L trip.

"Lamar Thomas is a great coach and was talking to me when he was at Western Kentucky," Ishmael said. "Everybody here knows who Lamar Thomas is.

"They have a winning atmosphere at Louisville, a great program and they're going into the ACC and I really like the staff."

Ishmael called U of L "one of my top favorites right now," noting that he wants to make his official visit before thinking about what he called a "tough decision."

"I can already tell you, I am going to like Louisville," Ishmael said with a laugh. "I just know I'm going to like it up there. It will make it a tough decision. "

Ishmael said with so many South Florida guys on the roster at U of L he figures the atmosphere is "just pretty great." He knows Corvin Lamb because of a family connection and said "I knew of guys like Keith Brown and Charles Gaines. They have a lot of Florida guys up there, so they all must like it."

As a senior, Ishmael had 68 catches for 951 yards and 15 touchdowns.
