The University of Louisville men's basketball team will be back in action on Thursday, after an eight-day layoff, when the Cardinals host Cincinnati at 7 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals (17-3, 6-1) have won four in a row since a loss against Memphis. Cincinnati (19-2, 8-0) has won 12 in a row and is currently first in the American Athletic Conference.
"It's been a while since we've had an extremely relevant game in terms of (conference) standings here and certainly this is not only a longtime rival of ours coming in, but a team that sits on top of the league in first place with an unblemished record," U of L coach Rick Pitino said. "We're excited about this challenge."
The Cardinals will also get junior guard Chris Jones back after he has missed the past three and a half games with an oblique strain.
Pitino said he is likely to stick with Terry Rozier in the starting lineup but said Jones will play after practicing for a week.
"He's 100 percent, practicing well," Pitino said. "He's looked fine.
The game is labeled "Throwback Thursday," with fans encouraged to wear their vintage gear. Fans can purchase "throwback" gear from the Cardinal Authentic team store at the KFC Yum! Center.
Louisville leads the all-time series 55-42 over Cincinnati, the Cardinals' most-played opponent. Louisville has won the last two.
