Louisville visit impacts Sturghill

Three-star prospect Cornelius Sturghill pledged to Wisconsin last month, but following his official visit with Louisville will now decide between Cardinals and Badgers. The Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose standout spoke with Cardinal Authority on Sunday morning.

Three-star Cornelius Sturghill thought his recruiting process was over. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound product of Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose extended a verbal commitment last month to Wisconsin after considering offers from Purdue, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and others.

After receiving recent interest from Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino, Sturghill accepted an invitation for an official visit for this weekend.

"It went really good," he told Cardinal Authority on Sunday morning. "I saw everything that I needed to see."

Recruited as a cornerback by Wisconsin, the Cardinals coaching staff informed him during his visit that they like him on the other side of the ball.

"We connected really well," he said of U of L's coaching staff. "They want me playing on offense at wide receiver."

Sturghill says he doesn't prefer one side of the ball over the other, but did admit that his trip has him reconsidering his prior commitment.

Asked where he plans on signing on National Signing Day, Sturghill replied, "I don't know at the moment."

"I'm going to figure that out on Tuesday night or Wednesday," he explained. "I'm going to sit down with my parents and coaches and figure out which is best for me."

Stay tuned to Cardinal Authority for future developments in Sturghill's recruitment.
