Louisville lands TE Standberry

Prior to departing from his official visit with Louisville over the weekend, three-star WR/TE Charles Standberry of Montgomery (Ala.) Carver committed to Louisville on Sunday morning. Cardinal Authority spoke with Standberry about what impacted his decision...

A prior commitment to Ole Miss, three-star receiver/tight end prospect Charles Standberry switched his pledge to Louisville on Sunday morning.

"I committed to Louisville this morning," he told Cardinal Authority moments before boarding his plane home.

Standberry, who quietly decommitted from Ole Miss last week, explained a major factor in his decision to become a Cardinal.

"They told me that they want to play me as a receiver and tight end," he said. "A flex tight end really. Their offense and how they involve the tight ends is one of the main reasons."

His official visit made a solid impression.

"It went really good," he said. "I liked everything about it, the city, the people, the coaches, the players. It was great."

Standberry also collected offers from Boise State, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and others.
