The University of Louisville women's basketball team won a school-record tying 15th consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon when the Cardinals tagged South Florida 79-79.
The Cardinals hit just 1 of their first 11 field-goal attempts in the game but used a 13-0 run to end the first half to gain control in front of 8,280 fans at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals led 45-28 at halftime and led by as much as 26 points late in the game.
U of L senior Tia Gibbs hit 5 of 7 three-pointers and led the Cardinals with 19 points, while Shoni Schimmel was just 4 of 17 but had 14 points and five assists.
Sara Hammond added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Antonita Slaughter scored all 12 points in the first half. Jude Schimmel scored just two points but had six assists, three steals and three rebounds.
The Cardinals (22-1, 10-0) have now won 15 in a row and will play at Central Florida on Tuesday night. The Cardinals are ranked No. 5.
U of L hit just 25 of 64 from the field, but were 11 of 25 from three-point range and 18 of 25 from the free-throw line.
