Trinity QB Bonnafon signs with Louisville

Trinity High School quarterback Reggie Bonnafon, who was the first commitment in the class for Louisville, stuck to his word and has signed with the Cardinals.

Louisville Trinity High School

Stats: In his first varsity season at quarterback, Bonnafon completed 190 of 306 passes for 2,606 yards and 16 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He also rushed 165 times for 895 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Commit Date: January 6, 2013

Recruiting Scene: Bonnafon ended the process early, becoming the first commitment in the class before last year's signing day. He committed the day after teammates James Quick committed to U of L and after receiving a ton of early interest from high-level programs.

Why Louisville? "Once coach (Bobby) Petrino got the job, it was kind of like a sign of relief for me. Then I finally got to talk to him and all of the stress and stuff was gone. He seems like a great guy."

Picked U of L over: Offers from Western Kentucky and Illinois and interest from Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina among a host of others.

Scouting Report: Bonnafon played wide receiver as a junior, so he's athletic enough to switch positions but will get a shot at quarterback in the Petrino system, which is the same system he ran in high school at Trinity.
