De'Eric Culver keeps word; signs with Cards

Tallahassee, Fla., Godby, cornerback De'Eric Culver committed to Louisville last May and explored other options after the coaching change. But he stuck to his word and signed with the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Stats: Culver had 51 tackles, including 40 solo, and three interceptions as a senior. As a junior, he recorded 54 tackles, eight pass break-ups, five sacks, four forced fumbles and two interceptions for the Class 5-A state champions.

Recruiting Scene: Culver was a huge catch the first time with the Cardinals beating out the likes of Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Memphis. After the coaching change, he visited California and also considered Nebraska.

Why Louisville? "I liked the whole city. It was like I was at home. The players made me feel real welcome."

Scouting Report: Culver is a big-time catch for the staff. A solid cover corner who has the athleticism to play early in U of L's system.
