JUCO OL Kelby Johnson now a Cardinal

Kelby Johnson, who played a year at Virginia, has signed with the University of Louisville after spending time at a junior college in New York. Johnson was a late pickup for the Cardinals.

Stats: Johnson only allowed one sack the entire season - in the first game - and flipped back and forth from left tackle to right tackle. He was named All-Conference at ASA.

Recruiting Scene: A former three-star prospect out of Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha, Johnson played one year at Virginia. After his stint at ASA, Johnson visited U of L, Kansas, South Florida and had an offer from Kentucky.

Why Louisville? "I knew during the visit that this is a place that is going in the right direction and that it was something that I wanted to be a part of."

Picked U of L over: Kansas, South Florida and Kentucky among others.

Scouting Report: Johnson is a big, physical tackle who will be able to step in and play right way. He played both left and right tackle at the JUCO level and was very successful at both. The likely right tackle at U of L.
