Visit makes Louisville leader for Vatuvei

College of San Mateo defensive lineman Pio Vatuvei, a former Washington Huskie, made a visit with Louisville over the weekend. After his visit, he told Cardinal Authority that Louisville is his leader.

Former Washington Huskie defensive lineman Pio Vatuvei spent this past season at College of San Mateo, where he earned All-Conference honors, is looking to return to the FBS level of play.

This weekend the 6-foot-2, 285-pound former three-star prospect out of Patterson, Calif. checked out Louisville as a potential destination.

"It went very well," he said of his time in Louisville. "I was able to spend a lot of time with the coaches and the players.

I had a great host, Lorenzo Mauldin, who told me all about Louisville and how things would be if I he decided to come there."

Looking to add one or two more to the 2014 recruiting class, head coach Bobby Petrino didn't push for Vatuvei's pledge during the visit.

"They didn't pressure me at all, which I really liked," he told Cardinal Authority. "They knew that I promised that I would talk to with my family and coaches before making a decision. I'm going to do that later this week."

Vatuvei added that it is a "strong possibility" that he could make his decision to become a Cardinal this week.

He's considering visiting Colorado next weekend.
