Three U of L pioneers to be honored Tuesday

Former Louisville basketball players Wade Houston and Eddie Whitehead talk about being among the first three African-American basketball players at U of L. The two and Sam Smith will be honored at Tuesday's game against South Florida.

In the 100th year of basketball for the University of Louisville and in the middle of Black History month, the Cardinals will recognize three pioneers on Tuesday night.

It's been 50 years since Peck Hickman signed Wade Houston, Sam Smith and Eddie Whitehead to scholarships. They were the first African-American basketball players at U of L.

All three will be honored during the South Florida game for their part in history.
