Manual RB has 'great' visit with Louisville

Bobby Petrino and his staff have hosted a number of the top in-state talent the past few days. DuPont Manual running back Michael Nero was among the group the visited on Tuesday.

One of the Bluegrass State's top prospects in the upcoming crop of seniors plays for the high school across the street for the University of Louisville. DuPont Manual running back Michael Nero finished among the state's rushing leaders as a junior.

While the 5-foot-11, 210-pound back has participated in a camp at U of L before, Tuesday was his first experience with the Cardinals new coaching staff during a visit that included attending the basketball game at the KFC Yum! Center.

"My visit was great!" Nero told Cardinal Authority. "I liked the staff. I was able to get to know running backs Coach [Kolby] Smith. Great guy! Assistant Head Coach [Garrick McGee] talked and I liked his spirit."

Louisville is one of a few upcoming visits for the 2013 All-State performer. He'll be attending Junior Day at Western Kentucky on Saturday and may visit Kentucky soon, as well.

In addition to the three in-state programs, Nero also reports interest from Cincinnati, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

As a junior, Nero finished among the state's top 10 with 1,832 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also hauled in 21 receptions for 188 yards and three touchdowns.
