Less than seven hours after beating Cincinnati on a last-second shot on Saturday, University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino was in Arizona recruiting at a high school game.
Pitino watched Phoenix, Ariz., Westwind Prep shooting guard Lyrik Shreiner, who had 20 points and 16 rebounds in a 70-point win over ASU Prep in the first round of the playoffs.
Shreiner said because Westwind had played the team before he wasn't too nervous.
"That helped," he said. "I was confident. We had played the team before and knew what to expect, so I was not really nervous even with coach Pitino coming to watch."
The 6-foot-4 Shreiner is an under-the-radar prospect who made a visit to U of L earlier this month. He has several Division I offers, including one last week from Baylor.
Shreiner said Pitino told him he would be keeping track of him in the future.
"I talked to him for a bit," he said. "He was telling me about the game that was earlier and talking about how he enjoyed watching me play.
"He said he was looking forward to seeing me play this summer and spring."
Shreiner is a member of the Class of 2014 but said he is "most likely" going to re-classify into the '15 class after this high school season.
He is averaging 31 points and 15 rebounds, 9.5 assists at Westwind.
