Louisville offers top 2015 guard Simon

Justin Simon, a 6-foot-5 versatile guard out of Temecula (Calif.) Valley, is garnering a lot of attention on the recruiting front. Louisville assistant coach Wyking Jones was at his high school on Monday and Simon reacts to the Cardinals interest level.

The University of Louisville has been recruiting Temecula (Calif.) Valley guard Justin Simon since for a few months now.

The Cardinals are among many powers in the mix for the 6-foot-5 Simon, who has been "hearing a lot" from the Cardinals.

On Monday, Simon said the Cardinals jumped deep into the mix. He said U of L assistant coach Wyking Jones was at his practice and watched him, telling Simon that he has an offer from the Cardinals.

"He told me they have been keeping an eye out for me for a while and like my style of play," Simon told Cardinal Authority. "They think my style fits perfect with how they play. He said coach (Rick Pitino) is going to try and come see me play soon.

"It's an honor for me to have them recruiting me."

Simon has other offers from Arizona, UCLA, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington, San Diego State, USC and Oregon among others and strong interest from Kansas, Texas and Connecticut.

"The recruitment process is just something you experience once in a lifetime and I am enjoying this with my family," Simon said. "We are looking at every university closely and enjoying the process."

Simon said he wasn't sure of a timetable for him to narrow his list but knows it won't be long until he has to start thinking about visits.

While his list is long, Simon said expected U of L to be there when he starts talking about places where he wants to take official visits.

"Coach Pitino is a great coach and he's surrounded by a great staff and they're the defending national champions," he said. "Louisville is a big-time program.

"They're coming off a great year, they have a great coach and a great university. It's just all-around a good situation at Louisville."
