U of L women win; set up clash with UConn

Louisville takes out Cincinnati 75-51, can now focus on Monday's battle with No. 1 Connecticut for a share of the AAC title.

There's been a lot of chatter about Monday's big women's college basketball game at an expected sold out KFC Yum! Center.

Now, the University of Louisville women's team can join in the chatter. The Cardinals took care of business on Saturday, beating Cincinnati on the road 75-51 to keep their bid for a share of the American Athletic Conference title alive.

Senior Tia Gibbs led No. 3 U of L (28-2, 16-1) with 17 points, while Antonita Slaughter added 14 points, Asia Taylor finished with 12 and Shoni Schimmel scored 10.

U of L and No. 1 UConn will play on Monday at 7 o'clock. More than 19,000 tickets are already sold for the contest.

U of L has now won five straight games since an 81-64 loss at Connecticut on February 9.
