University of Louisville signee Jaylen Johnson has turned in a sensational senior season at Ypsilanti, Mich., High School. He's been honored as a finalist for Michigan's Mr. Basketball award. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

University of Louisville basketball signee Jaylen Johnson has been honored for his sensational senior season.

The senior at Ypsilanti, Mich., High School was named a finalist for the Hal Schram Mr. Basketball Award in Michigan.

The 6-foot-9 Johnson is averaging 13.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots a game for Ypsilanti (18-2), which has won 12 in a row.

Johnson has been in double digit rebounds in nine games and has eight double-doubles.

Ypsilanti plays Ypsilanti Lincoln on Wednesday in the Class A, District 13 semifinals.

The Mr. Basketball Award is determined by a vote of members of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. The winner will be announced March 17.

Another U of L signee - Ballard's Quentin Snider - is a finalist in Kentucky.
