Cards with a monster road win at SMU

Russ Smith scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half as Louisville rallied from 14 points down to snap SMU's 15-game home winning streak with an 84-71 win over the Mustangs in Dallas. Chris Jones chipped in 21 points and dominated the first half for the Cardinals.

Russ Smith did it again.

The University of Louisville All-American was playing under the weather but had 22 of his 26 points in the second half as the Cardinals overcame a 14-point deficit and a hostile environment to grab an 84-71 victory over SMU in Dallas.

"I was trying to do everything I could humanly possible to play," said Smith, who threw up at least six times in the second half.

But he also hit six three-point field goals - every one he attempted - in the final 20 minutes. He was 6 of 6 from the three-point range and had five assists and two steals.

Chris Jones added a career-high 21 points and six steals, while Montrezl Harrell had 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

The Cardinals had a season-high 17 steals and forced 23 turnovers. The Cardinals trailed at one time 9-2 in points off turnovers, but ended the game ahead in that stat 25-9.

U of L will finish the regular-season on Saturday at home against Connecticut.
