U of L basketball: Recruiting notebook

Here are a few University of Louisville basketball recruiting notebooks items from this weekend.

AARON WINS A STATE TITLE

University of Louisville signee Shaqquan Aaron won a Class 3-A state title in Washington on Saturday night.

The 6-foot-8 Aaron scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half as Rainier Beach downed Eastside Catholic 47-45 and earn a third straight Class 3-A boys state championship.

Rainier Beach is now 29-0 this season and will now play in a national tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City in April, which determines a mythical national high school champion.

Aaron is averaging 17.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists a game for Rainier Beach.

JOHNSON HAS A HUGE GAME

U of L signee Jaylen Johnson had a monster game on Friday night, 20 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for as Ypsilanti, Mich., in the Class A district final.

Johnson's effort helped Ypsilanti to a 14th straight win and 20-2 mark on the season.

Ypsilanti will now play Southgate Anderson at Saline on Monday in the regional semifinal.

Johnson is averaging 13.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocked shots a game.

THREE VISITORS AT THE GAME

Trinity High School junior Raymond Spalding made his third unofficial to U of L on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 Spalding has also been a few times on his own to the Yum Center this season. He doesn't have an offer from the Cardinals just yet but that could come this summer.

Spalding then helped Trinity to a Seventh Region semifinal win over Manual with 29 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Apollo sophomore Eli Wright and Owensboro High junior Aric Holman were also both at the game.
