Cards take on Houston in AAC semifinals

MEMPHIS - The University of Louisville basketball team is back on the court for the second postseason game of the season on Friday night. The Cardinals will play Houston at 7 p.m. in the AAC quarterfinals at the Fed Ex Forum.

It's back to business just over 24 hours after a 61-point blowout for the University of Louisville men's basketball team.

The Cardinals (27-5) will play Houston at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference.

U of L has beaten Houston twice, including 91-52 on Jan. 16 at the Yum Center and 77-62 on Feb. 5 in Houston.

"We just have to stay focused," senior Stephan Van Treese said. "Play defense and focus. We've been doing what we need to do for a few weeks and we have to keep doing that."

In the first meeting between the two schools, Wayne Blackshear had 23 points. Russ Smith had 17 in the second meeting, while Luke Hancock and Montrezl Harrell had 15 apiece.

**The Cardinals will be wearing the new postseason uniforms for the second time. The new adidas "Made in March Uniform System" design.

While many fans on social media and internet sites didn't like the look, the players seemed to like the uniforms. They do have sleeves and were more of a gray look.

"I like them," Terry Rozier said. "I wear a shirt sometimes under my jersey anyway, so I liked them a lot."

Added Russ Smith: "They're not as tight (fitting) as last year. I think I liked last year's better but I like them fine."

***Van Treese has 23 rebounds in his last two games, including 10 on Thursday. He didn't score against Rutgers but also had a career-high four steals.
