Indianapolis DL enjoys Louisville visit

Defensive tackle Eric Whitehead of Indianapolis Lawrence Central made the easy trip south on Saturday morning to make an unofficial visit with Louisville.

A few weeks ago Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central defensive tackle Eric Whitehead reached out to the Louisville coaching staff and after reviewing his film, an invitation for an unofficial visit was extended.

"I contacted them and when they saw my film they said for me to come on down," Whitehead explained. "They've shown an interest for the last couple weeks."

On Saturday, the 6-foot-1, 295-pound prospect made the short trip to take in the Cardinals first scrimmage of the spring practice period.

"I liked it a lot," he said. "I had a really nice time. I had a chance to see how they do things there.

"I spoke with the defensive line coach for a little bit. We talked mostly about grades and the ACT."

Impressed by what he saw during his short visit, Whitehead hopes to make a return trip soon.

"I didn't get to see to much, but I liked what I was able to," he said. "I would like to come see it again."

Whitehead currently holds an offer from Toledo and will be visiting the Rockets next month.

"I'm going to Virginia Tech this weekend, Toledo on April 4th and Illinois on April 12th. Northern Illinois wants me to come for a visit, too."

Last fall, Whitehead registered 58 tackles, including 16 for a loss. He earned All-City and All-State honorable mentions.
