U of L travels to play Kentucky in baseball

The University of Louisville baseball team has a big in-state mid-week game on Tuesday, traveling to Lexington to play Kentucky. The Cardinals are 21-6 and ranked in the top 10 of all five of he major college baseball polls.

It's Cards vs. Cats again.

The two rival schools will play on Tuesday night on the baseball diamond.

Louisville (21-6) has won six of its past seven games and will meet UK at 6 o'clock.

It's the first of two midweek matchups this season between No. 8 U of L and No. 17 Kentucky. The meeting will mark the fifth straight between the two programs where both teams are ranked in the Top 20. It will also be the third straight time the Cardinals have been ranked in the Top 10 when facing the Wildcats.

U of L freshman Josh Rogers (0-0, 3.18 ERA) will get the start for the Cardinals. The New Albany, Ind., native is starting for the second time this season since returning from an injury.

UK is 19-9 on the season. Louisville trails 35-39-1 in the all-time series with Kentucky dating back to the first ever game in 1925 but the Cardinals have won three of the last four.

***Louisville remains in the top 10 after seven weeks of action. The Cardinals are No. 8 in four different polls and they continue to be ranked in all five major polls.

***U of L will return home this weekend for a three-game series with Memphis. The game on Friday is at 6 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday both slated for 1 p.m.
