Louisville is 'leader' for Georgia lineman

After making a visit to the University of Louisville for Junior Day, Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern offensive lineman Chandler Jones said the Cardinals are now his favorite. Cardinal Authority checks in with Jones after his visit.

The University of Louisville football staff is still looking for its first commitment in the Class of 2015. Could it be coming soon?

Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern offensive lineman Chandler Jones said the Cardinals are "the leader" for his services after visiting on Junior Day and he's thinking about a commitment.

"Louisville is the leader for sure," Jones said. "I have really been looking into Louisville even before they offered me.

"I know they have a good program and I really like the coaches. I like Louisville a whole lot."

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Jones is a three-star prospect in the Class of 2015 and has also visited North Carolina State and Tennessee.

Jones has eight offers, including U of L, North Carolina State, Syracuse, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, Cincinnati, Massachusetts and Georgia State. He has no other visits set up at this time.

While he was making his first visit to U of L, Jones said the Cardinals have been on his mind for a while. He said he's talked to the coaches several times and his teammate last season at McEachern - Henry Famurewa - will be a freshman at U of L in the fall.

"We are really good friends," Jones said of Famurewa. "He's told me a little about the program, that they have really good players and the coaches are cool. He also loved the facilities and I liked them as well."

Jones said he wasn't sure when he would make a decision but noted the Cardinals are "up there."

"The visit was great," he said. "I really liked the facilities and the intensity of the coaches. I talked to coach (Chris Klenakis) and coach (Bobby) Petrino and the running back coach (Kolby Smith). I liked everything about it."
