Mattingly was among 30+ recruits visiting Louisville on Saturday. During their time on campus they toured the football facilities, watched the team scrimmage inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and visited with members of the coaching staff.
"I really liked the U of L visit," Mattingly told Cardinal Authority. "I liked the way the offense was able to move down the field and the intensity of the practice.
"I visited with Coach (Garrick) McGee, Coach (Will) Stein, and Coach (Bobby) Petrino. They all encouraged me to come back and come to the camp."
Louisville's 3-day quarterback camp in June is now on Mattingly's upcoming schedule.
He visited Western Kentucky on Friday and has an individual workout planned with Cincinnati quarterback coach Darin Hinshaw.
Mattingly (6'4, 200) also reports that he anticipates coaches from Western Kentucky, Illinois, Cincinnati and possibly Louisville and Kentucky, are planning to visit Male during the team's upcoming spring practice to watch him throw.
Mattingly finished among the state's leaders in passing yards as a junior, throwing for 3,152 yards and 27 touchdowns.
