University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino said after the Cardinals' 31-6 season that Wayne Blackshear would be a key player heading into next season.

On Monday, Pitino gave Balckshear a major honor by naming him team captain for the 2014-15 basketball season.

"We have great confidence in Wayne moving toward his senior year," Pitino said. "I'm sure he will continue the outstanding leadership we have witnessed the last four years."
