University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino is still trying to fill a spot on his coaching staff, while the rest of his staff is going about their offseason business.
And that includes recruiting.
The Cardinals are expecting to add a pair of recruits in the Class of 2015 will evaluate about two dozen prospects during the spring recruiting period later this month.
But the top target is Orlando, Fla., Oak Ridge guard Antonio Blakeney, who said he's feeling the love from the Cardinals.
"I talk to them a lot and I like them a lot," Blakeney said. "I have a really coach relationship with (assistant coach Mike Balado) and also with coach Pitino.
"I like Louisville a lot."
The 6-foot-4 Blakeney, who ranks as the No. 39 player nationally in the Scout.com rankings, has over 20 offers, including U of L, Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Oklahoma State and more.
Blakeney has made two unofficial visits to U of L, including a late-season game against Cincinnati in the KFC Yum! Center.
"I've been there and the coaches have been here several times," said Blakeney, who had two visits from Pitino and several from Balado this season. Blakeney also watched U of L beat Central Florida in Orlando.
Blakeney said he's "not ready" to think about making any decisions and hasn't even started to think about a process to make a decision.
As a junior, Blakeney averaged over 20 points a game for Oak Ridge. He was named a second-team All-State performer for Class 8-A in Florida.
"I had a good year but I still have a lot of work to do," he said. "I can always get better. I am looking forward to (travel ball season), so I can get better and better."
Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on the recruitment of Blakeney.
