The University of Louisville is targeting a couple of dozen prospects in the Class of 2015 with shooting guard one spot it needs to fill.
The Cardinals' top target appears to be Orlando, Fla., guard Antonio Blakeney, while a top shooting guard from New Jersey could also be on that list after an upcoming visit.
U of L has already seen Roselle, N.J., Catholic School guard Isaiah Briscoe and has been recruiting him for some time. But U of L coach Rick Pitino is expected to stop in soon.
"Coach (Wyking) Jones said coach Pitino is supposed to come," said Briscoe's father, George. "It doesn't get any better than that, Rick Pitino. We're excited to have him stop by.
"We are going to wait until after July to narrow his list down or anything like that."
But when asked if the father expected Louisville to be on the short list, George Briscoe said "no question."
"It's Louisville and it's coach Pitino," he said. "We know about (Edgar) Sosa and Russ (Smith) and all of those guys, we're from around New York. We know about coach Pitino and how he lets his guards play."
The 6-foot-3 Briscoe is considered the No. 7 shooting guard in the country, according to Scout.com., and the No. 26 player overall.
Briscoe scored 24 points last month to help Roselle beat St. Anthony in the NJSIAA Non-Public B championship game. he had to sit out part of the season after transferring from St. Benedicts.
"I told (Jones) that coach will love him," the father said. "He fits that style of play. He's the type of guard who can play for coach Pitino."
Briscoe is also considering St. John's, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Providence, Arizona, Syracuse, Duke, Connecticut, Florida and others.
