It's becoming commonplace for University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino to have a new assistant coach each season.
On Wednesday, Pitino was at it again.
The Hall of Fame coach announced the hiring of former Indiana University assistant Kenny Johnson as a replacement for Kevin Keatts, who recently left for the job at UNC-Wilmington.
Johnson is considered one of the top up-and-coming young recruiters in the country. He also spent a year at Towson and was the vice president and in charge of travel with Team Takeover, a top Nike EYBL travel team for six seasons.
"I had what I considered to be a great job," Johnson said. "Leaving from coach Tom Crean's program was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. He's always going to be a friend.
"But when I received the call from coach Pitino and you think about the opportunity to work for and learn from one of the best coaches that ever lived. The opportunity to be here with him, it was too good to pass up."
